Northwest Zinefest Workshop programme 2018

12.30- 2.00 Drop in zine making workshop with Team Trident Press & Shy Bairns

Open to all ages and abilities, come and chat to some friendly local zine makers! Contribute to a collaborative zine we’ll be printing throughout the afternoon and/or make something of your own to take away with you. All materials provided, no experience necessary!

12.30 Reclaim the Hides – a radical birdwalk, leaving from outside Partisan with Matthew Cunningham

Reclaim the Hides is part led walk, part Ted talk. It’s an appeal to explore the radical examples set by birds, and to reframe birdwatching as an act that, while not revolutionary in itself, is one worthy of anyone who wants to build a better world. There’s a zine for sale, too.

1.00-2.00 An introduction to the Feminist Print Network  (meeting room)

Starting with an introduction from founders Cherry Styles and Esther McManus we’ll be hosting a peer-feedback session to share print/zine/etc work with others and gain some feedback in a supportive and receptive environment.

Bring along anything you’d like to share with the group, a project you’ve been working on (at any stage of its existence) or just yourself! We’re particularly interested in meeting people involved in print (in the broadest sense) archives, community arts initiatives and any existing groups keen to work with the network at this early stage. Come and meet others interested in getting involved, share practical tips and local resources for printing, distribution, collaboration and more.

2.30-4.00 D.I.Y Digital Declarations of Self Love

Limited spaces, reserve yours here

Join Wednesday’s Child in making live collage photograms. We will be working with you to arrange small scale found objects and textiles onto flatbed scanners to create a live collage! Once you’re happy with the composition you create it will immediately be printed out in colour. This then forms the background for your very own self love manifesto, a declaration of love from you to you! All materials provided, but free to bring any little 3D objects or textiles you might like to incorporate, think fake flowers and broken jewellery as well as more traditional collage materials. No need to feel daunted by the idea of celebrating yourself!

4.30-5.00pm Open mic/zine readings

Let us know if you’d like to grab a 5 minute slot or just turn up with something to share. Open to all, but we’d super encourage women and POC to share their work, maybe if you know someone who would be great give them a nudge from us eh?
